Need to think of what I could do with 12 little pie tins! LoL as usual I bought them without giving that any thought!

and finally my roses are starting to bloom! I don't know why, but every other rose bush in town has been flowering, I've gavethem fertilizer but no flowers until this week!! Even my new Dublin Bay rose has a flower!

Oh My , does time fly!

After a busy busy week, with work and family I realized it was nearly a week that I wrote something here on my blog!
We have had a rather busy week at work with all the drought assistance paper work coming through for a lot of the farmers here. Lordy the paper work it brings for us though!
At home, I've been hounding the kids more then usual to clean up their rooms. Specially the girl have trouble realizing what a wardrobe is for (besides kissing it with lipstick on that is!) and just dump their clothes washed or unwashed on the floor. How they know what is clean or not Ill never know.
On a quilty note, I've now finished 17 of the red/white Courthouse Steps done (only 60 more to go!) Then I got my Create and Decorate magazine today, and my to do list has grown once more.
And after waiting and waiting for the kids to use my tray, I've made myself braekfast in bed Saturday morning.

On Sunday we dragged some of the kids to Bendigo for a visit to the Art Gallery. Lewis and Megan enjoyed it a lot and the lovely lunch we had across the road from the Gallery was fun too!

Work in Progress

11 done, only 69 to go

Farm work

No I don't really live or work on a farm, but this morning I was called to do farm work.

Herding sheep that is! In the garden (and I use he term garden losely)next door, they keep 2 sheep to keep down the grass (easy job for the 2 sheep! it is so dry here grass doesn't grow much!)

So this morning I open my blinds to have one sheep standing on the veranda looking in, and I can see the other one making a B-line to my rose bushes. So like the shy petal that I am, I threw on my robe, grabbed my thongs and was out the door to get it away from the rose bushes!(if I wasn't so shy, I'd run out there almost nekkid! why are the most comfortable pjs always the more ratty ones??

Funny thing is they weren't impressed with me chasing them, kids thought it was very funny watching me! One of them managed to get a pic of one of the sheep (thank goodness AFTER it was pee-ing and not while it was doing that!)

Baby Sitting Duties!

The things you do for your kids!

I was looking forward to a nice quiet day all by my self (hubby working, kids either to Bendigo or the Show)
In storms Danielle with her friend who just got himself a kitten at the show! "Mum can you babysit for a few hours?? Pretty Please??
Now if you look at that cutey in the above picture, how could I say no?? So here I sit with a little furball snuggled into my neck! Oh lordy, I just hope I can let it go in a few hours!!! Coz heaven knows we don't need anymore animals!! (1 dog, 2 cats is enough!!!!)

I'm in love!!!!

While surfing the net, I ended up visiting Marcie's Blog, only to be hit with a picture of a lovely Christmas quilt! I just had to add it to myto do list. Check it out here: http://patchalotmore.blogspot.com/
I feel the urge to go fabric shopping again!!1 LOL

What I've been working on Part 2!

Whoopsies hit that publish button a little to quick!!

I also managed to make some thing pretty!!!

A friend had send me a piece of an old quilt, and I was rather stumped on what to do with it. That was until last night, when I was going though my stack of old pattern books and stumbled Season of Joy by Wendy Brigg! In there I found pattern for a standing Heart.

Off I went to collect my ingredients! Oh No I haven't got a wooden spool!! No Fear!! I remembered the old pepper mil I picked up a while ago in the Op-Shop!! It worked out great!

And it just proves to Hubby that sometimes I do use the "Junk" I collect! So what if I bought it years ago! All that matters is that I eventually used it!! Right??

So may I introduce to you my version of Wendy Brigg's Heartfelt Angel applique standing heart

What I've been working on

Before After

Last Sunday we had our Annual Lions Trash and Treasure market. This year there as a lot more trash then treasure, but I managed to spend a little money!
2 early edions of Australian childrens books: Seven Little Australians and the Twins of Emu Plains, a Russian Crystal decanter and 5 glasses, 2 small jugs, 5 small kerosene lamps and this little tray! All for under AU$20!! I even impressed my self there LoL.
I didn't care much for the tray in its original state, but I could see the potential for it. And being the considerate mum that I am, I thought it would be so much easier on the kids if they had a tray to use when they make me breakfast in bed! (I'm sure not having one is what stopped them from doing that more often!
So this morning before work I sanded back the try and gave it 2 coats of Burgundy paint, sanded it back lightly and VOILA, it looks not too bad!

Aussie Wildlife

Oh the excitement!!! The kids discovered a Bluetongued Lizard in our backyard.
The thing hanging out of it's mouth is the blue tongue.
Am I weird to think it is cute? It was about 4" long

Is it Autumn yet?

Here we are at the beginning of spring and already I'm sick of it!!

We're in for another dry year here! Some farmers here are already cutting down their crop for hay.

I just checked the weather forecast and we're in for another week of fine weather. Never thought I'd say it, but I'm getting rather sick of Fine Weather!! Bring on a few days of rain!!

On a lighter note I finaly talked hubby into buying me a climbing rose for the front veranda. I chose the Dublin Bay variety. I can't wait til it covers the Veranda

Shopping Trip

Sometimes plans just don't work! I went to Boort yesterday to buy some quilty things only to get sidetracked by a new shop across the road! Just my kind of junk shop too! Lots of depression glass and Kitchenalia. The picture on the left are the treasures I found, I could have bought so much more, but funny enough hubby and kids insist on having food every now and then (annoying habbit I must say!)
And before I had a chance to buy my quilty things my phone reminded me I had a dr appointment in 45 min, so I'll just have to go back again soon!!

Back to School

I've been a little slack the last few days! Been busy preparing for the kids to go back to school (WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!) And have done a proper spring clean of the house.
I love it when it stays that way for a while, hence why I do it after the start of school holidays!!
Less time for the kids to mess it up again! LoL
I've got a trip planned to Broyalla Patches in Boort! Hopefully there will be something there for me! (oh please like there won't be!!)

Raspberry Blondies

8gr butter, chopped
300gr white chocolate, roughly chopped
3 eggs
1/2 cup caster sugar
1 1/3 cup Self Raising flour
2/3 cup almond meal (ground almonds)
2/3 cup frozen raspberries
  1. Pre-heat oven to 180C/160C fan forced. Lightly grease and line a 26x16cm slice pan with bakingpaper, extending it at long sides
  2. Stir butter and chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water (do not let water touch base of bowl) for 3-4 min or until smooth. Cool
  3. Wisk eggs with sugar in a mixing bowl until pale and creamy. Stir in chocolate. Fold in flour and almond meal. Spoon mixture into pan; smooth the surface. Scatter berries over top
  4. Bake for 25 min or until edges are brown and centre is just firm (layer will firm as it cools). Cool completly in pan. Cut into squares

What's new?

Not much around here!

Spring Cleaned the house in preparation for the Mother-in-Law visit. So everything sparkles!!!

Mother-in-Law arrived yesterday and was treated to a trip to the Orthodontist as Danielle managed to break on of her shanks of her teeth and it had to be re-attatched.

I stayed home to finish off some cleaning and managed to do some sewing too! I'm now up to 20 Courthouse Steps blocks, 5 to go.

I've also been working on some ideas for dolls, hoping to use some of the vintage sheets I bought on Friday. Also painted an old chair I have looks nice painted, pity it is too wonky to use too often LoL
